Elementary Idea: Find an article from your area (e.g. Draper, UT) and read an abbreviated version and have students respond by drawing what they hear, or write their response.
Secondary Idea: Have students read a current event article and share (tweet-length) what it is about. (As an opener)
- Alternatively: Have students read a science article (secondary) as a preview, then provide support/scaffolding as you work through the primary article as a class
